The founder of the Samaritans in Ireland, Canon Billy Wynne, died recently at the age of 84. He was a canon of St Anne's Church in Dublin's Dawson Street. He was previously Rector of Monkstown, Co Dublin and Delgany, Co Wicklow.

The largest ever peal of bells was rung at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin, on 8th November. The previous record of 16 fully-rotating bells rung in sequence was broken not once but three times, with 17, then 18 and finally 19 bells being rung together.
