Churches Together in England, Action of Churches Together in Scotland and Churches Together in Wales (CYTUN) and the Council of Churches for Britain and Ireland backed an Irish Council of Churches a postcard initiative against the return of violence that appeared to be signalled by the bomb explosion in the Isle of Dogs in February.

The new Anglican Province of South East Asia was inaugurated on Friday 2 February in Singapore. The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd George Carey, installed the Most Revd Moses Tay as the first Archbishop of the new province which brings together the dioceses of Kuching, Sabah, Singapore and West Malaysia.

Many of you will recall that some eighteen months ago a number of British soldiers got seriously lost in the mountainous jungle of Mount Kinabalu in Sabah. The investigation into that incident did not reflect well on the soldiers involved, and there were several who might have been grateful for the Word of the Lord quoted in Isaiah "And your ears shall hear a word behind you saying: `This is the way, walk in it' when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left".

As you know, I have been here in Sarajevo so far for just two full days, and it has been quite unlike any other visit I have ever made! It has been a privilege to be here at such an historic turning-point, and to be with the brave people of Sarajevo, of all faiths and none.
