Sixty-eight missionaries gathered in Dornakal, India, for a Church of South India (CSI) regional conference exploring their participation in mission and ministry in changing contexts.
The Telugu regional mission conference took place on 23–24 October 2026 at the Epiphany Cathedral campus. Organised by the CSI Synod’s Department of Mission and Evangelism in partnership with the Diocese of Dornakal, it had the theme ‘From Wilderness to Living Water: Participating in God’s Renewing Mission’, drawing on Isaiah 43:19.
The Bishop of Dornakal, the Rt Revd Dr K. Senam Raj, presided over the gathering, which offered opportunities for participants to deepen their understanding of mission and reflect on their ministry.
The programme included sessions led by the Revd Dr Vinod, the Revd S. John Samuel and the Revd T. Joseph Dasan. Cultural programmes provided opportunities to celebrate the gifts and experiences of the missionary community.
The conference was coordinated by the Revd J. Justin and the Revd Shobana Joslin, Director and Associate Director respectively of the CSI Synod’s Department of Mission and Evangelism.
The conference commenced with an inaugural ceremony, followed by sessions on diverse mission-related themes that gave the missionaries opportunities to deepen their understanding, update their knowledge, and strengthen their mission experiences in changing contexts.
The CSI described the regional Mission conference as being 'rooted in the dynamic mission statement of the CSI, which affirms that the Church, through her ministry, expresses solidarity with broken communities through the cross, for an enduring hope in affirming the fullness of life'.
In his inaugural address at the event, the Rt. Rev. Dr. K. Senam Raj, Bishop of the CSI Dornakal Diocese, said: 'We do pass through wilderness experiences that challenge us, but God has promised us living water. It is through this promise that the lives of our missionaries are affirmed and renewed.'
