The nursery class at St Luke's Church of England School in Wolverhampton was attacked by a man on Monday 8 July. Children in the area had been invited to attend a "teddy bears' picnic" party at the school.

An Anglican/Methodist Group co-chaired by the Bishop of Grimsby, the Rt Revd David Tustin, and the Secretary of the Methodist Conference, the Revd Brian Beck, have recommended that a new unity scheme for the two Churches should be attempted.

Massive damage was done to Manchester Cathedral on 15 June when a bomb went off in the city centre. The bomb was planted in a lorry outside the Arndale Centre shopping centre by the Irish Republican Army (IRA). More than 200 people were injured.
